John 17:20-26

“There can be union without unity: tie two cats together by their tails and throw them over a clothesline.” In Christ’s prayer, He prays for unity, not just for His disciples, but for us as well. We live in an age divided into many fronts, not least of which is political. But there is sadly much division within the church! If you want proof, just ask 100 church-goers what they think about the current immigration mess! (And no, we’re not going to solve that this week!). Does unity mean we must agree on everything? And if not, how do we handle those differences? I think we’ll see Jesus’ prayer is just as applicable today as it was in the Upper Room centuries ago…
