2 Peter 3:18, Philippians 3:14
A few years ago, we planted a silver maple tree in our backyard. It was small enough that I could dig the whole myself and plant the tree. Over the years, it has grown substantially! Meanwhile, the oak tree planted in the front yard by our builders slowly died. We now have a brown spot where there used to be a tree. It’s interesting to look back and see how both trees changed over time. In my life, I hope I am more like the maple than the oak! Every once in a while, it’s worth taking a look at where we’ve been and where we are going. Are we (as individuals) growing or dying?
