Getting a job didn’t seem so tough. I had 10+ years of professional experience. I figured it was just a matter of time. I had it all figure out. Except for one thing: No job offers came my way. we were in a new city, with three kids. And we were in that city so I could attend seminary! And as a seminary student, surely my first response to this distress was to turn to God, right?
Well, theory and practice didn’t work out. It was easy to trust God when things were going well and I had a good job… much tougher when I had to trust God with the unknown! I got there, eventually, but it was a tough process.
David’s distress was much different than needing a job, but real nonetheless. What can we learn from his experience?
