Psalm 95

When I was younger, I remember hearing about “hardening of the arteries.” I had no idea what it was for a long time, but it became of more interest to me as I grew older. One website says this of “hardening of the arteries”:

“Atherosclerosis [hardening of the arteries] is a narrowing of the arteries caused by a buildup of plaque. As you get older, fat, cholesterol, and calcium can collect in your arteries and form plaque. The buildup of plaque makes it difficult for blood to flow through your arteries. This buildup may occur in any artery in your body and can result in a shortage of blood and oxygen in various tissues of your body. Pieces of plaque can also break off, causing a blood clot. Atherosclerosis can lead to heart attack, stroke, or heart failure if left untreated. Atherosclerosis is a fairly common problem associated with aging. This condition can be prevented, and many successful treatment options exist.” (from healthline.com)

Physical hardening of the arteries can be treated, slowed, or even prevented. And, untreated, it usually develops slowly. The same is true of spiritual hardening of the arteries. Psalm 95 is one of many places that the Bible warns us – don’t harden your heart! Join us as we talk about the serious disease of “spiritual hardening of the arteries.”
