There’s nothing like settling for second best. Granted, “winning” isn’t everything, but what happens if you are given the best, only to say “no thanks!” I love hamburgers. But, would I take a hamburger instead of a steak, cooked and seasoned perfectly, when the steak is given to me? Not likely! Now, that choice may sound pretty trivial. But what happens when the “second best” is an alleged way to enjoy our relationship with Christ? Is adding “intermediaries” helpful? Does giving up certain practices earn a better relationship with God? Is it really better? No! It’s not even second best.
